New York City did not disappoint! 🗽🚖🛍️🎡 We went on a few adventures. We saw all the sights, all the art, all the shops, and the kids took one too many rides at Coney Island (image 12 🤣). We even got to see my sibling which was a highlight 🥰. My heart is full. I sure do love this family of mine ❤️

It’s me. Hi. I’m a full-time stepmom, it’s m It’s me. Hi. I’m a full-time stepmom, it’s me. My stepchildren are with me and my husband 💯 of the time. My bio-child is with us 70% of the time and that is how our blended family operates. My heart has grown in ways I didn’t know were possible and I’m forever grateful for my husband and our kids. Our blended family journey began 5 years ago and we’ve been through some stuff ➡️ 😳😬😭🤷🏻‍♀️🫣🤪🤦🏻‍♀️😂😍 To those of you going through blended family “stuff”, I feel you. I’ve learned a lot the last 5 years and while I wouldn’t trade my family for the world, there are a few things I wish I’d learned sooner. My takeaways after 5 court cases: ▪️Document everything. No really, EVERYTHING. Screenshots have been my best friend. ▪️ Get yourself a really good attorney. They are worth every penny and will save you time and money in the long run. If you live in PDX and need a recommendation dm me. ▪️When someone shows you who they are, believe them! Expect that a high conflict individual will remain high conflict and don’t fall into the manipulation trap. ▪️Just when you think there can’t possibly be another “wtf” moment, what do you know, there it is. ▪️Focus on the good and don’t let the latest e-mail or court battle consume you. ▪️ Lean on your partner, your family and your friends as needed. You don’t have to be everything to everyone all the time. ▪️Let the kids be kids. Shield them from as much as you can but always lead with honesty. They don’t need to know every sordid detail but untruths should be corrected. Every blended family situation is different. What’s worked for me, may not work for you. Woman. Life. Freedom. These are the cries of the Woman. Life. Freedom. These are the cries of the Iranian people. The cries of 43 years of oppression. The cries of Iranians inside and outside of Iran. My family was lucky. My father and his siblings were studying in the U.S. when they received that fateful phone call from their parents in Iran, “There’s been a revolution. Don’t come back. Build a life where you are.” My mother and her family were granted asylum (a rarity) due to my grandfather’s high rank within the dismantled Shah’s army. They were able to flee to Germany as his friends and colleagues were hung in the streets. Every Iranian has a horror story to tell of the revolution and the “morality police”. For Iranians: those that lived it, are living it, and those that saw it through their parent’s eyes, the pain runs deep. ◾️Pain for the separation of families who were never able to reunite. ◾️Pain for the beautiful country they lost. ◾️Pain for those still in Iran who are often violently oppressed and lack basic human rights. ◾️Pain of assimilating to a new culture and country where they were often unwanted and unwelcomed. It’s a generational trauma. To the brave women in Iran who are risking their lives for basic human rights, THANK YOU. To those in Iran who stand with them in the streets, THANK YOU. To those who have already lost their lives, THANK YOU. To the allies who are sharing their stories and reaching out to their Iranian friends to lend support, THANK YOU. Goodbye Summer! It was a whirlwind, but we loved Goodbye Summer! It was a whirlwind, but we loved every moment of it 💕. It was bittersweet walking our girls to the bus stop for their LAST year of elementary school this morning 😭. With two 5th graders and an 8th grader in the house, it’s bound to be another busy season in the Lords’ household! Wishing everyone with kiddos the best first day of school 🎉

It's taught me that sometimes the only thing I can control is how I react. It's taught me that worst-case scenario thinking only robs me of peace. What's your blended family story?⁣ ⁣ Blended f What's your blended family story?⁣ ⁣ Blended families have some unique challenges that "conventional family units" may not always understand ➡ that's ok. ⁣ ⁣ I met my husband 4 years ago. We were both a package deal 👩🏻‍💼👧🏻➕👨🏼‍💼👧🏼👦🏼.⁣ ⁣ We've been married almost 3 years and in that time:⁣ ◾I've gone from being a part-time stepmom to a full time stepmom (100% with my stepson and 80% with my stepdaughter)⁣⁣ ◾We've been to family court 3 going on 4 times. Yes. FOUR times. That's not a typo.⁣ ◾It's been a journey of love, patience, joy and sometimes pain for my family but it's been so incredibly worth it! ⁣ 👰🏻🤵🏼👧🏻👧🏼👦🏼➕🐕⁣ ⁣ So, what's your blended family story?
